React Native app development for iOS and Android
Apps for your customers and your team, from one codebase for both platforms. I have worked with React Native since 2018, including on apps used by tens of thousands of people.

When it makes sense
- Customers would open the app often: bookings, loyalty, order status or live results.
- People in the field need to log their work without a computer.
- You need push notifications, the camera, location or Face ID login.
- You have a website or an internal system and want a mobile app on top of it.
What I build
One React Native codebase, two apps: iOS and Android.
Customer apps
An iOS and Android app with login, notifications and data from your own system.
Apps for your team
Work logs, photos, checklists or approvals, straight from the field.
Smooth animation and gestures
An interface that feels native. I built animation and gestures in the mobile apps for J&T Banka, Globus and J&T Real Estate.
Secure login
Face ID and Touch ID, encrypted data flows and certificate pinning, as in the investment app I worked on.
Store releases
Release to the App Store and Google Play, and updates after that through CI/CD.
Connected to your system
The app reads and writes data where you already keep it: your website, an API or an internal system.
Web app, React Native or native?
Three ways to get an app onto a phone. I pick the simplest one that covers what you actually need.
| Web app on the phone | React Native | Native (Swift, Kotlin) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Install | None, a link in the browser | From the App Store and Google Play | From the App Store and Google Play |
| Codebase | One for every device | One for iOS and Android | Two, one per platform |
| Push notifications | Limited; on iPhone only once added to the home screen | Yes | Yes |
| Face ID and phone features | Camera yes, the rest is limited | Yes, including Face ID and Touch ID | Yes |
| Updates | Live on the next launch | A new store version, both platforms at once | A new store version for each platform |
| Best for | Internal tools for your team, like Polákstav and Evidenka | Customer and team apps that need phone features | Games, heavy graphics or special hardware |
What an app needs besides its screens
I ask about these before the proposal, so none of them turns up halfway through the build.
Store accounts
I recommend opening the App Store and Google Play developer accounts in your company's name. The app stays yours, and I prepare the releases and the updates.
Data and backend
The app reads and writes data in your system through an API, or gets a backend of its own. That decision shapes the scope more than anything else.
Sign-in and security
I built Face ID and Touch ID sign-in, encrypted data flows and certificate pinning into an investment app. A business app gets as much protection as its data needs.
Notifications
Push notifications on iOS and Android, for an order status or a new task, for example. The sports federation apps had them alongside live scores and the match calendar.
New iOS and Android versions
Apple and Google ship a new system every year, and the stores eventually require app updates. So maintenance after launch is part of the proposal from the start.
Smooth on older phones too
I tune lists and animations on weaker phones as well, not just the latest iPhone. I built animations and gestures for apps at J&T Banka, Globus and J&T Real Estate.
From real projects
Apps with live scores, statistics, push notifications and fixture calendars. A shared architecture across the apps meant about 60 % less duplicated code.

Lukáš Novák
Senior frontend and React Native developer, founder of Novak Design
Novak Design is a one-developer studio. You work with me directly: the intro call, the design, the code and the launch are all mine, with no sales layer and no lost-in-translation hand-offs. I have built apps since January 2018, first in teams working for J&T Banka, Škoda Auto, Groupon and the Czech sports federations, and since 2026 under my own studio.

How I approach it
One codebase, two platforms
The iOS and Android apps come from one React Native codebase. Development is shorter and every change reaches both platforms at once.
First, I check whether the web is enough
Not every company needs an app in the store. Polákstav and Evidenka run on phones in the browser, with nothing to install. If that covers your case, I will tell you straight away.
Progress on your phone every week
I work in short cycles, so you see the app in progress every week and can give feedback at any time.
Smooth on older phones too
I tune animation and lists so the app never feels like a website wrapped in an app.
How we work together
Four steps with clear timelines. You always know where the project stands.
0130-60 min
Intro call
We talk about your company, the problem and what success looks like. No technical jargon.
021-2 days
Proposal and scope
You get in writing what I will build, what it will cost and when it will be ready. No hidden fees, no vague estimates.

041-2 days
Launch and handover
We launch the system together and I show your team how to use it. I stay available after launch.
What a mobile app costs
The price depends on the number of screens, on whether the app needs its own backend or connects to an existing system, and on the phone features it uses. You get a concrete number in a written proposal within 1-2 days of the intro call, with a delivery date and no hidden fees.
What drives the price
- Number of screens and roles
- Its own backend or an existing one
- Notifications, camera, location or payments
- App Store and Google Play release
Questions
How much does it cost to build a mobile app?
It depends on the scope, so I never guess blind. After the intro call you get a written proposal with the price and the delivery date within 1-2 days, with no hidden fees.
Why React Native and not native development?
One codebase for iOS and Android means shorter development and simpler maintenance, and a business or customer app still feels native. If your project needed something React Native does not handle well, I would tell you at the start.
Can I hire you as a freelance React Native developer?
Yes. I work freelance under the Novak Design studio: on a contract for your own app, as a white-label subcontractor for an agency, or as an extra React Native developer on your team. I have worked with React Native since 2018.
Do you handle the App Store and Google Play release?
Yes, I prepare the release and the updates. I recommend opening the store developer accounts in your company's name, so the app stays yours.
Do I need a store app, or is a web app enough?
If your team uses the app at work, a web app on the phone is often enough, with nothing to install. If you need push notifications, phone features or an app your customers download from the store, a mobile app makes sense.
How long does it take to build a mobile app?
Design and build usually take 2-8 weeks depending on the scope. Store review can add a few days.
